Geekvape’s Aegis Max 2 kit test

Geekvape Aegis Max 2 colours

Introduction

Since its launch in 2015, Shentzen manufacturer Geekvape has constantly evolved to provide users with more innovative products, becoming one of today's leaders on the vape market. With this Aegis Max 2 kit, Geekvape is sure to appeal to demanding sub-ohm vape enthusiasts.

Let's talk about this kit

Designed for adventure, the Aegis Max 2 is the ultimate subohm kit.

Geekvape is the only manufacturer on the market that can claim IP68 certification. This protection rating, usually reserved to watches and high-tech objects, guarantees exceptional water and dust resistance, but also shock resistance making this e-cig practically unbreakable.

Elegant with its ergonomic leather and silicon handle, this kit asserts its style with a strong character. For added safety, Geekvape has equipped the pod with A-lock technology to prevent accidental leakage. The pod is easy to use and is activated by a trigger-like button and fully controlled via its 1.08" TFT colour screen interface for easy navigation.

Geekvape offers the choice of an 18650 battery to be used with the supplied adapter or a 21000 battery (not included) depending on your needs. Recharging is done via a USB-C port.

With a power of up to 100W, its incredible chipset offers access to 5 settings depending on your type of vaping :

  • A Power mode allows you to set the power in watts.
  • A TC mode to adjust the temperature according to the resistive wire used.
  • A TCR mode for customised temperature setting.
  • A VPC mode to adjust the heating curves.
  • A Bypass mode that replicates the functioning of a mechanical mod.

Geekvape has paired its box with its Zeus subohm 2021 clearomizer.

With its generous 5.5ml pyrex tank (4ml with the replacement tank) you’ll never run out of juice.

This tank is equipped with an adjustable top airflow terribly effective to expel air from the top and cool the coil.

Geekvape has complemented its kit with Z series coils.

For a real vaping comfort, the Aegis Max 2 kit comes with 2 coils for a quick heat up with no bad tastes.

  • A 0.2 ohm Z mesh coil (pre-installed) to be used between 70 and 80 W
  • A 0.25 ohm Z mesh coil to be used between 45 and 57 W

The clearomizer also supports all other Z mesh coils from the brand.

With this Aegis Max 2 kit, Geekvape provides generous clouds and exceptional flavours.

Geekvape’s Aegis Max 2 kit test

We've asked Michael, Sweetch shop manager in Neuchâtel, to test this kit. He paired it with Inspiration's Napela e-liquid, featuring a delicious lemony madeleine flavour enhanced by caramelised vanilla cocoa and tonka bean.

He shared his feedback with us :

What was your first impression when you saw this kit ?

I found this kit to be very successful in terms of design. I was surprised by its much more compact side with the 21700 battery than its little sister the Aegis Max. The Zeus clearomizer is undoubtedly a safe bet for fans of big clouds and great flavours. No hesitation from me !

How was it getting started ?

The grip is very pleasant. It feels very sturdy, in line with Geekvape’s devices. I usually prefer smaller boxes, but this one is very ergonomic and the buttons are easily accessible without any finger fiddling. It’s heavier than the Coolfire Z80 that I currently use, but its weight is still reasonable.

The Zeus clearomizer with its top airflow, its anti-leakage system and its 5.5ml capacity is a must. Big clouds and flavours ahead !

How was your experience with this kit ?

A very good experience. Already won over by the Zeus tank, I fell for this more compact Aegis 21700.

Even with the brightness at its lowest, the information on the screen is clear.

The settings are standard and can be found on most electronic mods.

As for the Zeus clearomizer, I prefer its Nano version because of its lower power.

The top filling allows you to do everything with one hand while enjoying an ice cream in the sun. The only challenge will be to open your e-liquid with one hand !

Have you encountered any difficulties ?

Yes. First, the battery access panel was difficult to grasp without fingernails. A little bit more space would have been nice.

The other challenge was to close this same panel. It was complicated to engage the screw thread.

If I want to nitpick a little, I find the placement of the USB port unwise. There’s a passthrough function to vape connected, but it’s not pleasant, and I do not recommend it.

Who would you recommend this kit to ?

For all big clouds and great taste fans. The IP68 standard guarantees dust protection, water resistance up to 1 metre and shock resistance. Making this box the perfect companion for people working on building sites, or those who are a bit clumsy.
