Episode 3 - I'm drinking liquid while vaping !

An electronic cigarette consists of several elements, assembled, that allow it to operate and release steam. To have this steam, you need e-liquid, which when you spoil it on your fingers or worse ... in the mouth, can become very unpleasant. So the question that concerns us today is: why when I vape the liquid comes to my mouth and how to avoid it?

why ?

When you are using your electronic cigarette, your coil is heating up. Because it is in contact with a little piece of cotton, also soaked in liquid , it produces steam. However, when you do not use it, the cotton keeps its absorption properties and continues to drink the liquid present in your tank. And since the cotton is porous, your liquid may pass through to end up in the suction tube. At that moment, gravity does its job and the liquid falls into the bottom of your coil.

So when you pull on it again, the suction tube plays the role of a straw and makes the liquid rise to your lips. This inconvenience is especially present on the anti-leak air-flow tanks (air intake) at the top.

As you will have understood, this phenomenon is likely to occur with all models of electronic cigarette, a little less with the tanks with an  air intake located at the bottom of the tank (but in this case, beware of leaks).

What to do ?

Sadly, nothing apart from cleaning it up, it is called a drowned coil and it ain't cool.

Sponge the suction tube with a household paper, for example, to remove the excess liquid.

You can also press on the switch button and instead of pulling drags on it, just exhale 2 or 3 times in a row, this will dry up your coil and should resolve the situation.

One of the other problem you may be facing, is a defect coil, it's rare but sometimes it happens, all you gotta do then is throw it away and place a new coil.

There are other parameters to consider.

Indeed, an e-liquid with a high proportion of PG will drown your resistance  more easily because of it's consistance. Likewise, pressure changes (mountain, airplane ...) or temperature changes (strong summer heat) directly affect the retention capacity of cotton.

Eventhough it is unpleasant, the problem is not to serious and once you get used to your machines, you will be able to anticipate this problem with little pre warning signs.  Thanks for reading and see you soon for another blog "Au secours mon e-cig a un problème"
