Episode 1 - My E-cig is leaking !!!

An electronic cigarette is composed by many elements, assembled, that allow it to function and deliver steam. To get this steam, you need e-liquid, a thick substance, that when on your hands, fingers or worse, pockets or purses can be a very unpleasant ordeal. So the question that concerns us today is: why is my ecig leaking and how to avoid it?

Why ?

When you use your e-cig, your resistance (coil) heats up. It is in contact with a piece of cotton soaked in e-liquid, which allows to create steam. Yes, it is the very principle of the vape!

While not using it, the cotton keeps its absorption properties and continues to drink the liquid present in your tank. And because the cotton is porous (that is to say, it is not waterproof), your liquid may pass through to end up in the suction tube.

At this point, gravity does its job and the liquid falls into your airflow tank to escape through the air intakes.

And unfortunately, when the liquid is spilled, there is not much left to do except to wipe and clean with a small towel. And wash your hands with soap!

As you will have understood, this phenomenon is likely to occur with all models of e-cigs except the tanks where the air intakes located on the top of the tank.

What to do ?

There are other parameters to consider.

Indeed, an e-liquid with a high proportion of PG (propylene glycol), will more easily tend to leak because it is very liquid. Depending on the resistances you use, try liquids with more VG (vegetal glycerin).

Similarly, changes in pressure (mountain, plane ...) or temperature (strong summer heat) directly affect the retention capacity of the cotton.

If this happens too often, you can still make sure that your tank is not defective, and that your resistance does not need to be changed.

Alternatively, opt for a reliable clearo that does not leak, including models where the air intakes are located on the top of the tank. Yes, it does exist !!! You will find these models in the " related articles" section of this blog.

The best solution is to always keep your e-cigarette straight, to have a tissue nearby just in case... and to accept that yes, it can happen but it's not the end of the world.
