10 days with the Zing of Ipha

Introduction

Ipha, a recent brand you may not know yet, but promising. Truth be told, they did not start from scratch, the team is made of people from major e-cigarette brands and other industries. They aim for quality, security and "user-friendly" material with high standards by applying the same manufacturing process in terms of structure as the iPhone from Apple. They were also the first to create a pod entirely made of stainless steel.

Let's talk about this pod

The shape of the Zing might make you think of the new pod from a very famous American brand. It’s compact (108.5 x 20 x 12mm) and weighs only 17g.

It’s equipped with a 350mAh battery and its refillable cartridges have a capacity of 2ml. The resistances with a value of 0.8ohm are, surprisingly, well suited to liquids with nicotine salts. In fact, the pod was developed for this use in priority.

It’s extremely simple in terms of use. Just take the cartridge out of the pod, fill it and put it back in place. No button, no setting : simply start vaping, the activation is automatic.

It has a LED light that indicates the battery level : white between 100 and 20%, red for less than 20%. A good way to never be caught off guard. This LED is also used to report any risk of dry hit : when the liquid level is too low, the LED blinks 4 times in red and the pod stops.

Therefore, we can truly consider that this pod contains all the necessary security : against overload, against short circuits, against too much puffing and against the risk of burning the resistance.

We’ve asked Denise, an occasional and demanding vaper (according to her manager) of the Sweetch team, to test it. She paired it with the Mad Hatter's « ILS » Blue Raspberry Ice liquid, blue raspberries with a touch of freshness, perfect for this spring and the first warm days. She shared her impressions with us :

What was your first impression when discovering this pod ?

I found it very aesthetic with its clean lines. The appearance of the anodized aluminium alloy is really very pretty.

How was it getting started ?

Very well ! Just fill the cartridge, close it and put it on the pod. There’s absolutely nothing to do, except vape. Practical and efficient.

What is your experience with this pod ?

I found it extremely ergonomic. It’s really nice to hold. It can be held as a cigarette (for those who do not wish to give up their favorite gesture for example). Furthermore, its material is very soft and pleasant to the touch.

I made a small mistake (to be avoided !) during the first filling. The cartridge has a kind of tab giving access to the filling holes and instead of lifting this tab, I removed the entire rubber part, which led to some leaks later on. What’s very useful is that it has two filling holes, which really simplifies the operation.

Beside from that, I immediately fell in love ! It has 2 openings under the cartridge, which greatly facilitates the filling. It’s dedicated to a fairly tight vaping similar to the one of a cigarette. It produces a nice amount of steam and has a really great flavour rendering. Non-negligible detail, I never had a liquid overflow. And this point is really important, because a nicotine salts liquid overflow in the mouth is quite unpleasant.

The shape and the material of the cartridge are particular and very pleasant on the lips, when one uses the pod.

Despite the fact that it has a 350mAh battery, which may seem little, it has a very good autonomy. So, I must admit, it's a big crush. In fact, I really bothered our head of purchases / sales in order to have it as part of our range following my test (laughter).

Did you encounter any difficulties?

Just this little mistake on the first fill, which I won’t do anymore.

Who would you recommend this kit to?

I think it can really be suitable for beginners or vapers who want a secondary device.

Conclusion

A really nice pod, very ergonomic, pleasant to the touch and use. An exceptional rendering of flavours, a nice amount of steam and a very good autonomy to top it all off ! An ideal pod to stop smoking or as a secondary pod.
