Geekvape Aegis Solo 5 Kit: 100 W, 21700 battery and Z Subohm Tank 5

The Aegis Solo 5 kit takes Geekvape’s single-battery design to the next level, with a power supply that is now compatible with 21700 batteries. Capable of reaching 100 W, the mod can also operate with an 18650 battery thanks to the included adapter. It comes with the Z Subohm Tank 5, a 5.5 ml clearomiser designed for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping.

This configuration thus combines, in a single kit, an IP68-certified mod, the AS Chip 4.0 chipset and two Z XM Boost coils. Measuring 146.1 × 42.55 × 31 mm, the unit remains relatively compact for a device powered by a 21700 battery.

21700 or 18650: two compatible battery formats

The Aegis Solo 5 operates with a removable 21700 battery. For users who already have 18650 batteries, Geekvape provides an adapter that also allows this format to be used. In both cases, the battery required for operation must be purchased separately.

The mod also features a USB-C port supporting charging up to 5 V / 2 A. The charging cable is not included with the kit.

AS Chip 4.0 and adjustable power up to 100 W

The power can be adjusted between 5 and 100 W. The AS Chip 4.0 offers two modes to choose the desired level of assistance:

• Smart: the mod detects the coil resistance and automatically selects a suitable power setting
• Power: the wattage is set manually by the user

Key operating information is displayed on a 1.08-inch screen, including power, coil resistance and battery level.

A-Lock and IP68 rating for the Aegis Solo 5

Geekvape has fitted the mod with an A-Lock switch that allows the device to be locked quickly. It is also possible to lock only the adjustment buttons, whilst keeping the Fire button active, by holding down both adjustment buttons for two seconds.

The IP68 rating characteristic of the Aegis range provides protection against water and dust, whilst the reinforced construction is designed to better withstand the knocks encountered in everyday use.

Z Subohm Tank 5: 5.5 ml for DTL vaping

The top section of the kit is the Z Subohm Tank 5 from Geekvape. Its tank has a capacity of 5.5 ml and its adjustable airflow is positioned at the top of the clearomiser. This design complements its DTL draw whilst helping to minimise the risk of leaks.

Filling is also carried out from the top via a sliding cap that remains attached to the clearomiser. An 810 drip tip completes this setup, designed for airy direct-to-lung vaping.

Two Z XM Boost coils included

The Aegis Solo 5 kit allows you to try out two Z XM Boost coil resistances, each suited to a different usage range:

• Z0.2 XM Boost 0.2 ohm: 70 to 80 W, airy DTL vaping, recommended PG/VG ratios from 30/70 to 20/80 and nicotine up to 3 mg/ml
• Z0.4 XM Boost 0.4 ohm: 50 to 60 W, a more moderate DTL vape, recommended PG/VG ratios from 40/60 to 30/70 and nicotine up to approximately 6 mg/ml

The 0.2 ohm coil is pre-installed. The 0.4 ohm version, meanwhile, allows you to maintain a direct-to-lung vape whilst using a lower power setting.

How do you prepare a new coil?

After installing a new coil, fill the Z Subohm Tank 5 and wait approximately 10 minutes before using it for the first time to allow the cotton to soak up the e-liquid. Then start at the lower end of the power range specified for the coil before gradually increasing it if necessary.

A reduction in vapour production or flavour accuracy, or the appearance of an unusual taste or a burnt sensation, may indicate that the coil needs replacing.
